Almost all of the people from those clans stopped playing after they had the game for about 1-2 years. Most of us from VDS played JK for about 4 years. We had a lot more time to get really fuckin good at nf sabs. That is why the guys from IRN, KRT etc...probably wouldnt have been able to keep up with most of us because we played a lot longer. The skill level in JK in 97-98 was nothing compared to what it was in 99-00 because people in 97-98 hadn't played as long as us. I started playing in January of 98(got the game for xmas) and had a long time to get very good at nf sabs as did most of VDS. I can't believe I'm talking about this but I think my point has been made...wow it feels like the old days when I use to completely own every single forum post someone made that I didn't agree with.

The players in KRT and EA dominated EVERYONE in JK, got bored, and went onto other games.. whereas you guys stayed in the game for 6+ years just to START getting decent at it, but years after the game had already fallen off the planet you start thinking you're hot shit

Great players left the game after they had nothing left to prove, why would they stick around until 2002 to beat random newbies for years.

VDS beat newbie clans after JK died out and was never around to even kiss the asses of the jedi legengs who raped JK generations before them, but you niggers have the nerve to say you guys would own them.. simply because your math dictates that you "played" longer than they did and somehow that gives you superior gameplay to this extremely complex enigma of a game that we call Jedi Knight.

Since people have trouble understand what "old school players" actually means, it refers to someone who was actually a good or renowned player in JK for one reason or another during 97-end 99. Complete newbies from Cantina in 1998 do not qualify as "old school players" and cannot even attempt to comment about the gameplay of clans like KRT..simply because, WHEN YOU INSTALLED JEDI KNIGHT, KRT HAD ALREADY DOMINATED THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY AND RETIRED

i respect many of the older clans. KRT was a good clan.. BUT saying "old school" is gay.. and saying that "new school isnt as good as old school" is even gayer you cant compare. Lets use your sports analogy. You use hockey ill use basketabll. You cant compare Kobe Bryant to Dr. J for example, they didnt play at the same time.. Dr. J was the shit during his time, kobe is the shit now (record 80pts)...How do you know who would win??? your basically saying kobe bryant did not play in the beginning of the NBA so Dr. J is better.

wayne gretsky was good no doubt. put him in a game today and he would still be good. BUT just because he is from a older period in time does not make him a god. The fact that he had skill made him a god. your statement that we were just good in comparison to the left over newbies is bs. you know, i know it, and half of those newbies that beat you know it.

all im saying is PEOPLE improve with EXPERIENCE... not the game improves with time.. i said nothing about time. you can be sucky in 97.. come back in 2000 and still be sucky. We played in ladder., tourneys, clan matches with plenty of your "elites".

Kud was exceptional for his time because I worked him to the bone every day for months. I played you too wodz. Sorry to say but he was 10 times better than you. I don't know why your using him against lyr in this VDS argument as I repeatedly tried to get kud in vds during 2001. I sat and watched him beat van one day, one of my proudest moments ever. Even beat my ass one time I remember.

He couldnt beat everyone though. Sure he learnt to play against me and did well which I would consider a great achievement considering how long he played. But I dont think he ever beat hexen, or zodiac for that matter.

anyway if your going to lump vds as not really achieving much and getting owned by older gen clans blah blah just dont include me in that list. I was around back then too and pretty much could run with those older guys most days too. I did get better by the time i joined vds. probably cause I had grown up a little bit more and played smarter during matches. Well anywho I think this sh-it needs to be looked at on a player-by-player basis. I think some of the members of vds would of put up a good fight if they were to go back in time somehow. Cause they sure gave me a run for my money from time to time.

in short i wouldnt put vds as one of the best ever - but definetely during its time

and older clans i would say are highly overrated. But alot of older players go down in history as some of the best ever.

i see i get a brief mention on page 5 from klav about i used to pick on newbs...... well ya i did but by the time i got to vds id been playing long enough that i started getting mean about the game cuz i didnt care. anyways it was a good time. i find it funny shit that 6 years after we all played that game that you all are still bsing about it. ive seen alot of names left out (mine included), who beat some of these "bests" listed quite regularly. for instance i took #1 on ladder off nem and legacy... thats an arguement for 6 years ago tho. how have yall been? thanks subzero for pointing this shit out. it has def giving me a good laugh.

2nd, kud(whom by the way is a friend of mine) being exceptional? holy mother of god, i feel bound to say it again, if players like him, wodz, or yackman were EVER any close to exceptional, then the vdsers were all aliens.

3rd, wodz & yackman, so theres no doubt left, neither of you were ever a vds or had a shot @ it, not that it bothers me , but it might seem for the misinformed ones, reading this lame thread that u ever had a shot @ it, or that u would join anytime u guys wanted, or worse, that once you guys were members of the clan. No u were never a vds, and knowing the mind and opinions of my clanmates as i got to know after i joined, neither of you were never even considered to be part of it, cuz gladly, all vdsers knew where they were standing, which means best of the best, and they wouldnt ruin it for friendships, or sympathies, when there was not enough skill, which was the case of both of you.

4th, i read you wodz pointing out that kud didnt make it in not cuz of skillz, but cuz of his attitudes as u said "vds wouldnt consider skills only".
Well that statement is true, vds tended to be very careful about attitudes, and elite had to come either from it as from skills, apart a few mistakes like tybalt going mad here and there heh but thats life..:P
but as for KUD, he didnt make it in, cuz he lost to Zodiac 5-1, plain and simple.
his first tryout game on vds and he got that score, he was denied any chance of joining after that, plus, if i recall well, it was me who asked my clanmates to tryout him, as i was close to him @ the time.

5th, I tend to agree to Hexens post, saying that the ones who kept on playing after one or two of these "old school" clans quit, for the years to follow would tend to be better, i said "tend" cuz u cannot ever claim player A would beat player B if they have not played yet, the most u can do is to imagine, guess or speculate about a possible result.
all in all the facts r that vds managed to gather together most of the best players around of its time and dominated most of the tourneys attended by a vds member.

6th, prince best sabs clan? not worth a comment, one must be really high or mentally disturbed to ever come up with a shit like that, or must have never even understood the game.

i was there, against them @ first, playing for quest and JiE eventually beating them(specially on 2on2 tourneys) here and there when it was possible to, teaming up with Axion, Desperodoz or Orgazmo, my 2on2 buddies by then, also getting my ass kicked by hexen on 1on1 tourneys, or by eng, and on my tryout i had the chance and pleasure to play most of them on 1on1 duels, allowing me to be sure of what every1 around used to say, itd be hard as hell to join cuz they had most of the best players in.

plus, as lamest as this poll is wodz, it reflects in your opinion on it, since on KRTs description it reads "They were the best of the best", thus being totally biased and showing that your mind wont change for anything, neither we want u to, but lay it off, u aint convincing any1 from those who were on Zone when VDS was around or those who actually knew things about this game, these last would have my attention over their opinions and my respect for that.

last but not least, those who matter to know do know, and those who dont matter, well they just dont heh..
its like talking maradona today, years after his retirement, that he was not the best of his time, he will be like " i know i was and those who competed against me know too, is there a need for any further acknowledging?", thats exactly our feeling 🙂
