[Locked] Which was the best sabers clan?

haha geeze those are some sweet screens.. i was scared that I was going to find my name in one of em.. but I didin't *breathes a sigh of relief*.. those are some good saberists there.. pretty much everyone.. that I wish I would of gotten to play when I was in my prime.. (I do recall playin them all actually except KDD_Lonestar and IRN_Quake) I didn't see any Prince there however.... I saw a bunch of people before they joined Prince though, I suppose Mask you were an old timer based on the clan names of the screen.. in fact I only remember rumors of your name lol which is a good thing I suppose,, you were legendary when I was still trying to make one...

i dono if you can call JCS one of the best at NF sabers..
after this screen lol:
course I might of asked you the same thing after playing you,.,

anyhow ya.. if i wouldn't of been obsessed with becoming the Demo Master lmbo.. I would of gotten a chance to play some of the greats., but my time came to late for some :-
I should try piecing together some screens.. i'm just too dang lazy lol and I don't know if anyone would really care for it to be worth the effort.

One more thing I'd like to discuss... The past few days from my impression we were are all talking
who was the best NF Sabers clan in Duels..
No one has even mentioned 2 vs. 2 aspect of NF sabers
.. even though one might argue for many 2v2 games it was specifically duels as well with some switching off thrown in between..

Am I correct in thinking teams 2 vs. 2 wasn't as prevalent back in the early ladder days and frowned upon I'd guess because of lag and cheap shots that would be "unskillful"?
However, with emerging DSL and Cable connections the lag wasn't as much of an issue in 2 vs. 2 I.E. 1999, 2000, 2001.
I'd like to debate that 2 vs. 2 should have as much of an impact in deciding who was the best saberist clan as duels. Afterall, it is working together as a team that made a clan a clan. What is a better way to illustrate team (clan) unity than a 2 vs. 2 match?

Furthermore, I'd like to say Prince put together some of the best 2v2 combos in JK history.. many of which involved (not to give myself any glory) but me such as
Yackman and England, Axion, Oxide, Sacred, or HeXen. Of course there were other combinations of successful Prince 2v2 teams.. such as HeXen and Sacred or England and Oxide...etc.

I personally won as many 2v2 tournaments as I won 1v1 tournys..

haha yes my ranting continues.. but I'd just like to not go uncredited for
all the work and effort into running Prince...

One last thing I'd like to mention, I saw on this forum someone posted " everyone knew Prince was .. I was just wondering if there was any other clan that was officially " I guess the *** meant gay...
Wherever that person got that notion from is the biggest lie ever.

To clear things up, Prince was not at all gay, in fact Prince was founded as a Christian clan. Not to gay bash or anything but a Christian clan that believed being gay was morally wrong. I tried to keep Prince up to the high standard of Christian values, but we were all hormone raging teenagers at the time at least most of us.
Who can blame us for some of our actions? Besides its just a game, its just the Internet and it was just all in good fun. Finally, any bad reputation was developed through
1.) our dominating the newbies and taunting them endlessly lol as some of my over pompous Prince did against my better judgement... haha we had some Prince that stuck with me for 4 years such as Karbon who always loved to cause a scene.
2.) Just being new and unfamiliar with the old time elites.
3.) Our name which I didn't pick,. just remain loyal to old times sake kept
Anyhow.. I will stop preaching..
once again Yack out

dont think you were in DSbr eugene...

well i remember playing 2v2 ffa style when i aliased in NK, me and bobbo won alot. i cant really recall playing team sabers ffa style in any cwt though. it was always 2 seperate duels going on in the same game.

and then partners would switch oponents if the score started getting lob sided.

yep Phelan that is pretty much what I'm referring too, however the duel format of 2v2 was only what people did because of who knows what reason that wasn't the rules,.. there was a lot of 2v2 games where you'd have some double teaming going on etc. it just added at least I think, a more complicated twist to the regular sabers duels.. other people would say more of a Lucky twist lol, but i did feel more pressure in 2v2 duels vs. 1v1 because I didn't want to let my teamate down., so it was at least I'd say of an equal importance in judging saber skill at least in terms of as a clan in whole.. I do recall playing some NK in 2v2,.can't remember the names for the likes of me.. i'm lucky i remember the name NK.. anyhow :),. I for once don't have a big comment to make .. that is all for now!

KDD stood for knights of death and destruction, and it wasnt all about lonestarr he was in many peoples minds the best, but there was alot more who made the clan what it was, kain, crimsonred, dh, d1, cloud, macleod, pure, yog, vert..
no dsbr should not be on the poll, if it was an "the oldest clan ever" poll or a ff poll then yes. and theyd probably win ff
KHS should be on the poll yes, people tend to think of it as a fad clan much like KTL, never the less these were both quality clans with mega elite gayber players who instantly dominated any player outside the clan in its speciality- nf sabers, this is strictly nf sabers of course, any other setting and these clans were not in anyway capbale of keeping up, prehaps there should also be a who was the best clan overall in every aspect the game had.
vds should be on the poll also, these were some above avarage saberists subzero still being up there as one of my best/toughest duels.
SLDR should be up also, sephiroth, droome, kain, nemesis, neo(original), corlin.. list goes on..
quest should not be on the poll imo, kohv can kiss my shit
gs/jcs had excllent players in all generations, gen_pat, dust, blazingsaber dr00me, kain(ikik), judgmentday, sepultura, renegade, eugenius, foo, corlin, euphoria, sculpt, fallout, each gen had some hardcore sabeirsts, they always did. i will say this though, bartolo was a fucktard that tarnished it's image horribly
koaj could do with being on the poll also,
to yackerz, i never had much games with any prince player(if any)certianly not one who had the tag on at the time, i have heard alot about the clan tho, mainly bad.. but hey different people have different opinions

i do think that it is absolutely impossible to compare players/clans from entirely different generations for example
you have lonestarr sat at his pen3 650mhz, shitty 128ram, half ass graphcis card, 56gay, back in 1998 (actually a good comp for back then) playing sabers in a style he invented. and no one else had yet tapped into.

and then you have say.. evangeline sat at his 2.8ghz, 1.2gbddr ram, 8meg connection, latest card, in 2005 (i dont know if he has these specs) a player renowed for his extreame speed and warp style of play, that he could perform better than most of the later generation.

whos going to win? whos the best?

you see any advantages there? you might say both players could compensate for either situation .. but we will never truely know, what gen of players or clans or what was the real best over all.

when i was playing, players were coming out with totally new styles that hadnt been seen or used before, dr00me was a guy who some will say revolutionized how sabers were later played long after he was gone, there were others with some very perticular indivdual styles and only a select few players played with these styles, it evolved into most every player playing these styles, and others in later gens made styles there own ect ect that vet players may never have played against or used.

with the playing knowledge and high specs of an elite clan of players from 2004-05 vs the playing knowledge and pos machines of an elite clan of players from 97-98, well one clan of players has got a rough deal and I don't have to tell you which.

very good post RK.. i agree with that completely..

It is funny however that I played on my P2 266 .. 32 meg 3d card computer.. for 4 years.. 1997 - 2002.. I pretty much saw every style there was.. i dono :) I really can't say if one is better than the other.. but I think each generation could handle the other.. because I handled the new computers much later on my older piece of crap..
I finally have DSL now.. people said my skill would be gone completely..
its not.. i'm easily just as good.. not too much difference at all... More of my hits register.. and more of other peoples hits on me register.. it pretty much negates itself.. and the skill level is the same.

anyhow :) life goes on JK was amazing while it lasted

im proud to say nobody played with my style, and i still have the same computer i played jk on way back when!, just better internet now... who is rK? by the way, there were no pentium 3's when lonestarr played jk... at least the first time around.

d1 = flashlight = toggle hacks

you say dr00me revolutionized sabers? i say he ruined them... it became less about strategy in my opinion. the way i played, i made people run into my swing, and i did it to pretty much everyone you can think of that was around when i played, that is worth mentioning at least. dr00mes style was to run around like a chicken with his head cut off, sure its effective but it really didnt take alot of finesse. i used to mouse jerk for the fun of it just to prove a point, i never learned that style i just ran around like an idiot, and i was pretty much up to par with everyone else. in my opinion learning dr00mes style was the equivelant of sabering for dummies, just the quick and easy way to learn how to win at sabers. the only thing ill say that i liked about it was that playing a guy that mouse jerked made the games alot quicker for me. but its kind of a double edge sword cuz then i didnt really get to have any really good matches in the latter days of my jk playing.

and sure maybe developing your own individual style and getting "elite" at it was a long process... but it sure made the game alot more interesting when you never knew what to expect out of your oponent. and the duel basically became a chess match. not a competition of whos faster and can get hit the less.

yeah lones specs were much worse than what i mentioned, those were the specs of his new pc that he played jedi outcast with... for like all of 1 week, which he was buzzing about, my bad. i played on a 333mhz 32ram voodoo32fx card, ive upgraded big time since then.

i never played headless chicken style back in the day either untill i came back and played on and off in 2003 onwards, every single person seemed to play that way, and it annoyed me. When you say it was a chess match, you hit the nail on the head, i loved those types of matches, and i rarely got to play a game like that when i returned. i picked up the headless chicken style pretty quick and it wasn't exactly hard being up there with the best headless chickens.. it was an easy style to adapt to, not much thought in it and pretty much a reckless hit and hope game plan. judge and ikikurass were the best chess matches i had, you could learn so so much in those type of matches, btw just to clear something up.. when I mention nemesis as being good, Im meaning before his long hacking/tweaking crusade bs. Anyhow im out.. have a good xmas people

well its nice to see someone share that view... i found i was always much more dominant against the mouse jerkers using my own style though, reason being, as you said there wasnt much thought in that style, so showing them the old rope-a-dope was a pretty easy way to kill them, especially if i'd already been hit, its like a bull they just see red and charge. so i never switched, unless it was to mock them in random games. anyway...

and a happy holidays to you all as well, see you on the flip side most likely...

damn you cant even say d.o.p.e
