Well, JK happens to be the first FPS I've ever played back when I was 11...a decade later I felt the urge to buy a copy off eBay. I beat the single player campaign a few times for nostalgic purposes, but I'd really like to check out multiplayer. Currently I have the official 1.01 patch and igz installed. However, I haven't actually been able to find a game since people are always playing some sort of mod. I've been scanning the forums and have come across people talking about a custom JK launcher, patch commander, unofficial patches and how it's a mistake to install the official 1.01 patch.
So basically, which patches/utilities should I install in order to be able to play with the community and should I reinstall JK and MotS without the 1.01 patch?

First of all download MIRC from:
Once you have that, then connect to the server:
irc.gamesurge.net and join channel #jk
Once you join that channel there are plenty of people there who are willing to have a game, with and without mods
JK will work fine with the 1.01 patch also.
