Hey hey
I am actually writing an article about clan communities. So I thought if you guys would give me some quotes to put in that would be sweet.
Why did you start playing Jedi Knight, only because it was Star Wars related? what made you join a clan? Why not stay solo.
Why has this game/clan atmosphere lasted so long, some of us have been at this for 10 years...how did we stay togeather...we are fans of this game...but do fans hold onto things for this long?
Any other comments would be great toooo.
Clans in Jedi Knight were an integral part of the games success. People played the game at first because they enjoyed it, but after its novelty wore off, people continued to play because they developed a sence of clan belonging. They felt a need to contribute to their clans prosperity by bettering themselves in the game. Competition, tournaments, and rewards through the clan system were further motivations to continue to play Jedi Knight. Many people had no desire to win tournaments for their own name sake but for their clans. Besides competition, clan members developed a sence of brotherhood with one another enough to sacrifice plenty of evenings just to have fun experimenting with the newest level or MOD.
Haha.. feel free to dissect that however you choose there buddy.. π hope it is at least somewhat helpful for you though.
did u put it in quotes because you are quoting yourself or what lol?
I first joined a clan so I could participate in tournaments like WoW and what not. I stayed in WLP because I like the people and the atmosphere.
Unfortunately nobody took me seriously on my WLP name, so I had to make aliases in order to have good people play me.
I guess my point is...clans served 2 purposes for me: Friends to play with, and being recognized as a good player to attract other good players to play me.
haha ya i was quoting myself :). i dono,. i was bored so i figured id spice it up a bit.
Yack is pretty much bang on there, I never joined any clan that was full of '***holes', and I always loved the clans I was in because of the said 'brotherhood' that developed between the players in it. JK got boring very quickly playing solo, and the whole clan thing kinda revived interest because you could fuck around and do whatever, including chat whoring in Nar, and it was always at its best the more of you there were! i wasn't in 'elitist' clans because you always had kids in there whose attitude sucked big time, and they generally annoyed the crap out of me. Being in these clans was what made the game so popular because I noticed when SyKoTiC started to get more and more inactive(e.g. one WoW had just me and Ani playing for SyK) then I'd sit about in Nar bored off my tits wondering why on earth I was still playing the game! haha!
A few of my thoughts for ya!

I was known for clan whoring in general other then my "mad skillz" =).But after awhile I just started to join clans because something bigger and better came along. And I guess I sorta just fell into the trap of always wanting to be better then everyone else. One of my down falls when I started JK.After JK started to die I finally settled down into one clan that Clumsy and I restarted that we were both apart of when it was around. It was AP.I guess as I grew up(I started JK when I was like 12 or so).So by the time I finally matured in a way,It was alittle to late for my whole clan whoring Bs.I guess as I saw it clans came and went. But I generally kept the main friends I had from the time I started to the time I got "elite".Hell, the person I knew the longest in JK SubZero/Divine has known me from like 1998 and I still talk to his newbie ass =).I also fell into the trap of joining clans because my "Friends" did. That happened a few times.I guess the sence of belonging is alot more powerful then most people want to admit. But Clans in general stated that you were of something Great. If you stayed in a clan because of the skill level or because of the friends you made.It was still something great that was important to you.
Thx everyone π
And god damn Nova learn to use the space bar after a sentence.
