mots game this weekend w/ personailities

Well its been awhile since I posted anything here. Didnt know this thread was that popular hehe. Ok I am known as JKLE_Ross in the clan. Started playing a few months ago etc. When Kurgan cant host or any error pops up with his server etc I am willing to host when needed. I have cable so things should run fine.

Sad to here about your discs guys. Same problem happend to another game that I played for a good amount of time. Had to get the disc drive replaced. Thankfully though it wasnt a star wars disc. hehe.

On the cd crack. I didnt find where it is located but I did find something on not having to have the disc in when you play. so ill post link on that. Just need the game installed on your comp for this to work I think. Idk if this will help but ill post it anyway.

Sometime when I get around to it im gonna make some new maps for us to play on so maybe some suggestions can help me with some ideas etc.

Good to play with you Hyde. It was alot of fun. THings get interesting with more people playing. Most of the time we just been playing regular
deathmatch. Well since kurgan only hosts that. I am willing to go host sbx and stuff like that. Ill go add you to msn Hyde so I can keep you informed on stuff.

To clarify Ross' last post, sorry but there was a misunderstanding.

A few different "JK converted to MotS" map packs have been released.

I had a very specific one in mind that I'd run in the past by MERC_Tiberius, called "JK to MotS" (or as I call it, "JK2MotS").

The one Ross posted on Massassi is DIFFERENT, and unfortunately, quite buggy.

The one on Massassi is by a different guy and was done in 2000. Tiberius's was done in '98.

Tiberius's lacks thermal detonators in any map (don't ask me why). Instead he has flash grenades galore. The only way to use TD's is to get them off a soldier's backpack.

Tiberius's removes all Super Shields. This means you can't rely on them for help, making Valley of the Jedi Tower a lot more fair for the most part.

For some reason the Massassi version has all the levels renamed. And the author of that version did the typical beginner error of making it so that the game goes directly to the credits when a map ends (due to score or time limit reached or "endlevel" command). This is easily fixed by editing the episode.jk file, which I did, but sadly it wasn't really worth it.

Yes, the Massassi version uses a different goo name, so you could have both installed at the same time and they wouldn't conflict, however....

The Massassi version includes an EWEB Blaster Cannon (formerly only available in Single Player) on Canyon Oasis on top of the "bacta" platform, across from the lightning trap switch. The cannon really works and seems good at first (it makes an "underwater" sound effect when you get in and out sometimes), but then the problems begin. At first I got into the cockpit and we had somebody try to snipe me. Unfortunately the shots seemed to go right through me. Then finally, after awhile, I appeared outside the cannon and died (strange! I thought you were just supposed to take damage normally while inside). When I respawned I couldn't move, but was stuck in place. I had to use the "kill" command to get out of it and respawn again. Of course when I went back to the spot the cannon was gone (but there as an invisible solid object where it once was). If I tried to "use" to get inside it, I couldn't, I just "switched weapons" which was either fists or if I had saber out, the beam disappeared. Another time I actually started flying (as if somebody had hacked me). I couldn't get down until I restored my player. It was really odd.

Yes, the guy who made this "jk.goo" tried to make sure all the weapons were present. Unlike Tiberius in his version, he inserted the blastech pistol into maps as a pickup (but not the Bryar of course, which can only be obtained from the backpack of a Jedi or Scout). He made sure TD's were a pickup. But he kept the super shields. He also didn't seem to plan much with the Surge pickups, as there are regularly two surges right next to each other (in JK of course each side of the Force has their own surge, in MotS everyone shares one). The item placement of course varies, but he went overboard with the Seekers it seems (Tiberius probably put in too many seekers on certain maps, like CO, but this guy put in even more!). He also put in too much carbonite. So chances are it's going to be lots of seeker and carbonite abuse in these maps, especially if you're playing personalities.

So in short I think we'll be sticking with the Tiberius version from:

But as of right now, I'm just running MotS Standard Maps.

However if you have JK Enhanced (from jkhub.net) feel free to use it, as I am running it too, so I'll be able to see the new skins and stuff.

OK people its Friday! usually we get some gaming in today
and the weekend but with Kurgan gonna be away for the
rest of the years it up to other people to take his place,
Im willing to host around close to evening and later Eastern time
for all interested. Ill go send invites to all the regulars or just
inform the on whats going on.
