Should JK try to make a Comeback on the Zone?
Here is my plan I stated in another post:
traditional way JK was known and loved by hundreds.. having a JK server / IRC channel is is nice.. but people can't figure out how to use the bloody thing half the time, and to find games that are going on.. that is almost impossible...
The zone was always the traditional way to play JK.. anything else
seems foreign and will be hard to make much of an impact when it comes to having old schoolers come back..or even encourage newbies to start playing.. if we distribute the cracked version of the game in mass quanities I'm sure people will play / comeback to JK for free.
What ive suggested and will suggest again..
1) make a little mini domain such as www.jkzone.com or www.jkdf2.com
2.) with links to the active JK forums,.. info on the dedicated server and possibly the IRC channel... and links to the old zone rooms (as well as a link to get you connected to zone friends because.. you can't enter the JK rooms without logging onto Zone friends first).
I already own jkdf2.com 😉
I want to use that for redirect to jkdf2.net however...
If someone put up the couple bucks for a domain, I can make a small site 😉 Or I can just make a small site at zone.jkdf2.net or w/e...

your sign in idea is pretty good.,, :).. id be willing to fund the www.jkzone.com
I'd also be up for editing all the non superly technical stuff for it.
None of the passport login pages can be hooked, if that makes any sense. I can't load them in a frame or as an include. This means no matter what You are gonna have to login via an unhooked zone/msn/passport page. On the page I'm making I'll have a link that opens up a new window for the login page and in big letters "CLOSE THE LOGIN WINDOW AFTER YOU HAVE LOGGED IN" ... probably the best i can do
However after you are logged in, I can make a link saying "I AM LOGGED IN" that realods the page with custom lobby list formatting, and also loads a invisible frame with the zone classic zzzz page, then each lobby link will be my custom javascript and it will target teh zzzz page and load the zone lobbies haw haw haw so elite

Alright one thing we can do is have a link to the sign in page, with instructions to close it WHEN YOU ARE LOGGED IN, and then loads the lobby list when you click "I am logged in" 😉

The zone lacks so many features that could benefit JK gaming and editing as a whole, it ain't funny.
The best option, is to make an application like the Zone, only better. 🙂
