JKDF2.net Announcement: MotS & Website Optimization

JKDF2.net will soon be expanding to cover the little world of MotS, JKDF2.net will cover downloads but we will not offer detailed exclusive content regarding MotS like we do for Jedi Knight(I.E: Cheat codes, ect), but there will be some guides and JK info pages may be modified to include MotS data.

Hopefully this will encourage more activity on the MotS instance of the JK/MotS server, and give folks a chance to check out something new, but not much different than JK. Hehe. 😉

I am also planning a number of website enhancements:

Total conversion of most of HTML attribute values to CSS

Having everything in one global CSS file will open the path for: JKDF2.net Site Skins! You will be able to choose your JKDF2.net theme via a simple menu. 😉

Forum Tweaks & Styles

Soon I will be adding some MODS to optimize the forums for the end user, and to add some fun features that will make the forums an even more fun place to have discussions with other JK players.

I have also been working on a new forum skin that will go very well with the design of the site, and I will be adding some additional forum themes for you folks to try out. 🙂

PHP Code Optimization

JKDF2.net contains a lot of PHP code for all sorts of data queries, and in some instances my PHP code is not as optimal as it should be, slowing down page loads. Page load is still excellent on the server, but I like to have everything optimized to deliver the best possible browsing experience to the end-user. 🙂

HTML Code Optimization

To ensure browser compatibility and the correct presentation of visual elements, all HTML code is being redone to bring you a very consistent, smooth, attractive JKDF2.net.

Visual Enhancements

JKDF2.net will undergo some visual enhancements, including an increased implementation of my Photoshop skills with the site, deliver you a more attractive design. 🙂

JKDF2.net Administration Panel

I will be creating a new Administration Panel that will make it even easier for the JKDF2.net Admins to perform Administrative tasks on JKDF2.net, such as adding files.

New JKDF2.net features/events/content oriented toward the community

We plan to host more special events than we currently have(very few), such as special game nights or weekends hosting instances of special Mods and/or Maps that are not usually hosted on the Jedi Knight / Mysteries of the Sith Dedicated Server.

In addition JKDF2.net will be interviewing a number of oldschool JK players, giving them a chance to talk about their JK career and reminisce about JK "back in the day", ect.

Some of the first interviews will be of BeefCaike, an elite oldschool mapper, going all the way back to the 20th century) and EnGlAnD_VDS, an oldschool elite saberist from the VDS clan.

There has also been discussion of some sort of "JK Magazine" or at least a monthly/bimonthly compilation of articles.
