please help

Well apparently to play JK with a router u must either Bypass the router or open ports. Unfortunately its my dad's router and he's bein an arse about it. He says it was hard enough to get it working because its such a piece of crap that opening a port could f**k it up 🙄 We have tried bypassing the router it simply just will not work, no matter what we do. 😡

DOWN TO THE POINT: Is there any other way in HELL i could play JK without having to do any of these tasks?!?! PLZ HELP! I want to start playin jk every night after work, im talkin every night. I miss this wonderful game. someone should bug the crap out of MSN to get zone back up. 😛

if it's possible maybe just plug your computer directly into the cable/DSL modem. In many cases when you attach a different device to a cable/DSL modem you must restart/unplug/plugin the modem. Yes, to the modem your computer will be different than the router. If you can't join games that way then your router is not stopping you. Windows XP firewall maybe? Disable it. It's a lame firewall anyway and if you use a router that's a firewall in itself. Any other 3rd party software firewalls runnning. Norton, zonealarm, mcaffee? Try shutting those down also to trouble shoot.

I went through similar shit for about 9 months just not too long ago. I found out that if you have XP but not the full service packs (which you can't download if the PC you're using is totally fucked by corrupted files or an illegal version) don't even bother trying to find a game until you get a new computer. Unless you know something I don't. It's a waste of time.

JK is the sole reason this computer still runs Windows 98. For the rest of my life This will probably always run win98. I have a funky problem that I never could oversome. Windows98 is the only OS that runs my mouse buttons (my JK mouse, and I will never use a different mouse) the way I want them configured, and it holds the config at game launch. I know it sounds insane but I and my computer geek friends have tried to get my mouse to work how I want it, with JK, on every other OS. WINME, 2000, XP all failed with this mouse. If it wasn't for my mouse setup during JK I would have left win98 long ago.
