#jk - My Formal Complaint

We shall create a new community. This shit needs to end.

People complained about Severen's room and now they complain about Beef's room.

I agree with Darklich because the behaviors in the room are causing users to leave for good, which only diminishes the size of the overall (tiny) community and stunts its growth potential. With the constant shit talking, DSbr was able to make IRN_Maverick316 leave IRC and never come back. He was a very respected player in 1998 and should be shown some respect. Instead petty insults were handed out like candy on a daily basis by the dsbr baby band. You will also notice that many people post on this forum and do not actually come to IRC...

I also agree with Lee, these channels do not require moderation of this extent. Three total moderators who actually know guidelines and follow those stated guidelines, rather than being quick shot ops who do whatever they please.

DSbr claims the chat is only active because of them, which we know is a Swiss cheese statement. Before DSbr came around there was little to no shit talking taking place. People would go about their business and have general conversations and or play JK. With the continued growth of the community this process would only expand itself with automation. In my opinion, this process has been derailed.

If we, the people of JK, are trying to expand our community and "put ourselves out there", then why do we continue to create lobbies in small crevasse of the irc world? Holonet had a total of 50 users and zirc is less than 2,000.

The only reason ANY new user comes to our IRC is because of RET and his site. Which I need to thank him on a daily basis for constructing and maintaining. This forum alone has undeniable attributes for positive communal growth.

Now, what to do? I propose that we create #nar on a more active irc server, a server that actually has other games that people actually play..such as CS, T2, BF1942, Halo2, WoW.. Whatever. Anything is better than idle servers. Let's say 900 ex JK players are playing Q4 (or 3) on qnet and could easily get into our community by merely typing /join #nar

That is merely a metaphorical analogy of multiple variations of chance. However, it is a higher probability than our given situation.

The users should not be given any "RULES" to be followed; they should understand that malicious attacks such as; hacking, flooding; would not be permitted and would warrant action from the moderators. Although I do agree that Shit Talking has always been a part of Zone, might I raise two extremely validating points:

1. We are no longer on Zone.com. We had a chance to start fresh, albeit with a small dwindling community. There is no need to proceed with ways of the past, these attributes accomplish nothing.

2. Every single user is an adult now. Regardless of separation between real life and internet personas your internet actions are inherent dictations of ones self. You kids were trash talking when you were 15 and now you are at least 21+ years old and are most likely a college scholar. If you want to shit talk, go to your local frat party and pick a fight. Attempting to rekindle grudges SEVEN years later is a complete joke (niftysaber altercation).

Before DSbr we have never discussed "issues" with shit talking. This ends right now. All DSbr will be permitted into the channel by default. They share the same inherent right to belong as everyone else does. They must be able to coexist with the other users in a non-threatening manner, or they will be banned accordingly and told to stay out. Which will be true for all users of the community.

The immature bully behavior is a deterrent of the community, the community in which DSbr does not care about whatsoever.

And for the record. This is not because DSbr is obsessed with me and constantly talks shit. That does not bother me at all. The problem is that they are causing people to leave, which is the opposite of what most of us are trying to accomplish

As far as the room goes, i really dont give a shit what happens, IRC is kind of boring anyway. and to move to a new room that's modded by "great mods" is horseshit, they said that bout #jk and look what's happened to it.

Wodz you will ban any DSbr memeber instantly and any DSbr member would ban half the room instantly for interrupting their convo. As far as i see it, there's no point in changing rooms, and it's more hassle than gain since i cannot be arsed to type in irc.enterthegame.org and try to find some meaningless room *sigh*

Mav316 is a good buddy of mine who has been willing to help the good people in the JK community get ahead in life, as best as he knows how. Dsbr and other freaks who picked on him its ridiculous that you generated the main rhetoric for the insults thrown at Mav316 based on a few words taken out of context. You can NOT judge a person by one statement, one action but by the total life that they lead.

The fact that you fools make a mockery of good people has detracted from the amount of time I wish to spend on the #jk server. I know you guys mean it to kid around, but we aren't kids anymore; we are adults. To pretend we are kids on the #jk server 6 years later and do the same lame stuff that we did years ago 24/7 merits psychological evaluation.

Finally, I might also note that Nomad's beef with Klav is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen and is the exact opposite of the attitude Jk needs to survive. Klav is a good man as well.

wodz won't have ops and DSbr probably won't either -- and if they did , they wouldn't abuse them. DSbr has ops in #jk and they do not abuse them. the only reason they ever even use them is for flooding (which smoke and orbital do every day). we don't care about people "interrupting our conversation" - that's how online chat is - multiple convo's at once , and if it gets to be too much then we have #dsbr. and yes you are pretty much useless to the community, except ur another person who might chat/idle. no one admires you, you're not very funny in the chat and you don't play jk. i really hope that u were joking in that last post, cuz otherwise you are a joke.

Both Wodz and DSbr are cool with ETG, there will be no problems between the two concerning "ops" or banning.

And the Moderation situation is being handled, and most everyone agrees with it, let's not make this about who has what power over who, the Ops will be level headed, trust me.

With that said, if you still decide not to come to ETG, I will not lose any sleep.

Wodz and I created a JK channel there for people who are unhappy with Beefcaikes moderation and the ZiRC server in general.. as it is a dead end. Plus it is full of old JK'ers, we've come across 4 or 5 already.

And even though Wodz and I created the channel we will have no active role in the moderation of the channel, rather we will chose 5 or so neutral people who treat people fairly and have no serious problems with any players.

I think it will work out for the best, and the mods will keep it clean, the last thing we want to do is run off any players, active or inactive.

if a dsbr member flames you, you probably had it coming. and if you let them get inside your head and piss you off you deserve it. i know shit talking drives away a lot of the community (the undesirables in my opinion) but it actually strengthens the competitive community.
i think you guys are really insecure about your skills. if youre good at the game who gives a fuck what anyone types at you. spanker was the butt of every joke for years but did he cry about it like a pussy baby? no.
besides if you cant handle a little shit talking then YOU guys must be the ones that "take it too seriously." if you cant talk shit to someone for 30 minutes before a game, play, lose gracefully and be a good sport about it afterward then you just plain suck. i was always all about talking shit before games (and during) to try to get amental edge on them and make them believe that i was really better. im really not too down with making fun of someone you raped for more than a few seconds unless they really had it coming.
i dont think non players and shitty players should get away with talking shit to skilled players current or past, without being ostricised by hard working guys like dsbr. i used to be all about that shit but then i just realised it was more fun to train people then to weed players out by making fun of them.

It's pretty sad that there are more people actually playing/talking about JK in #ctf than in #jk. #ctf usually has at least 2 or 3 games throughout one day, while #jk sets up about 1 game per week.

In #jk, all you get are random potheads talking about smoking 24/7 and dsbr meatheads being assholes to boost their self esteem.
