All right shinji, just been waiting for a good chance to address your connection problems. This might require a bit of work on your part and I need some questions answered.

First and foremost, run windows updates and make sure your computer is updated with all the good microsoft shizzle(haha).

Secondly go to microsoft.com and get the latest version of DirectX.

Do you have a router between you and the internet?
Are you on a buisness or residential connection?
Do you have SP2 for Windows XP?

I've downloaded the service packs from microsoft.com as well as the latest version of direct x. Their websites try to say some shit that I don't have a valid version of windows XP, but I downloaded them anyway and around halfway through the installation process it says something about a corrupted file (I'm not sure which but I could look into it if it matters).
I'm running service pack one, no windows firewall, and no other firewalls that I'm aware of (shh don't tell any1) :b

I've got a residential DSL connection through Verizon.net.

I have a router between me and the internet. It's not physically at my house though, and I have two different IP adresses. One that www.whatismyip.com gives me, and another that IP Config gives me. When I called their tech support line they said that it was "out of their boundaries" to give me any help since I was able to access the internet; they re-directed me to Lucasarts and I'm almost certain that they quit offering tech support sometime last century.

It's pretty complex so I'm thinking if we both have some free time and you're really fuckin bored I could give you shared access somehow. You could probably figure that part out without any help though. Let me know what you think.

Alright some further inquiries:

You say you have a router between you and the internet - but it's not at your house physically...are you sure about this? I don't see how this is possible, unless you are sharing your internet with other people. You understand the purpose of a router correct? The use of multiple computers on a single connection? Perhaps you don't realize you have a router(no insult intended)?

If you have a router your configuration should be something like:

Computer -> Router -> DSL Modem

But if your setup is Computer -> DSL Modem -> Possible router???

I'm not sure what is going on if that is the case.

Can you physically look at the connection between your computer and the internet, and tell me the order of things? That might help.

I'm trying to figure out where this router of yours is. 😉 Then from there we can go about configuring it.
