About this mod
This updates Kyle Katarn's 3d model textures, as provided in the excellent Jedi Knight Remastered mod. I thought Kyle's eyes were a bit too big, then noticed minor seam bugs, and so decided to go all out. There are various versions for your needs, though I believe the best is the Extreme High Res texture version, which should run fine on modern hardware.
Kyle Katarn HD Textures / Fixes Pack
Version 1.03: 2/11/2024
This updates Kyle Katarn's 3d model textures, as provided in the excellent Jedi Knight Remastered mod. I thought Kyle's eyes were a bit too big, then noticed minor seam bugs, and so decided to go all out. There are various versions for your needs, though I believe the best is the Extreme High Res texture version, which should run fine on modern hardware.
- AKyleHD1-LowRes-White-Shirt: Low resolution, fixes seams, white shirt, makes shoulder pad darker (I thought the original color looked a bit bland). Great for running on original hardware, smaller size assets.
- AKyleHD2-HighRes-Tan-Shirt: High resolution, fixes seams, tan shirt to better match Kyle's outfit in the cutscenes, makes shoulder pad darker
- AKyleHD3-Xtreme-HighRes-Tan-Shirt.gob: Extreme high resolution, fixes seams, tan shirt to better match Kyle's outfit in the cutscenes, makes shoulder pad darker
Installation Instructions: (Jedi Knight Remastered 3.2+):
- Copy the desired mods*.gob file into your AppDataRoamingOpenJKDF2openjkdf2mods folder.
- That's it, enjoy.
Notes:
- I used Topaz Gigapixel AI to upscale the textures, along with manual tweaks with Gimp for seam fixes, eye size fixes.
- If someone wants a white-shirt version of Kyle in Xtreme High Res, I can make one, but I'm unsure if there is even a desire for that over the tan shirt.
2/9/2024 Latest update: Clearer eyes, the upscaler needed some help.
2/11/2024 Finer tweaks to the eyes - many may not notice - but his eyes are now more relaxed, making him look more natural.
