Sith Training
Author: [Joshua Roxby] Reviewer: [SL_Ric_Olie]
- Aesthetics:
- This pack of three levels was very hard to review. It was made as an interactive saber tutorial, not as levels to play over and over again. Architecture was quite good, with no boxy sectors. Texturing was fair, with a variety of textures, but some badly stitched areas. Also, there was an area which I suppose you werent supposed to reach but did anyway that had default mats. Lighting was fairly well done, with variation from place to place. Dynamics were good with a new player 3do, Pic retextured as a Mini-Maul (not to be confused with Mini-Me), and Gorc also retextured. There was also lava that killed when you fell into it and some tinted sectors too.
- Gameplay:
- There were no items in the entire pack, but there were meant to be none since you only fought for a small period of time, and read what Darth Girth (Mini-Maul) was saying to you. There were some visible HOM effects in one of the cutscenes which was disappointing. There was also a small colormap error with one texture. Playability was limited to learning saber techniques. This tutorial did very well in teaching techniques, and that was what it was supposed to do. And Pics and Gorcs AI and flags were changed, so Pic didnt attack you and Gorcs swing caused less damage.
- Final Comments:
- This interactive saber tutorial was very good in doing what it was supposed to do: give you tips for more effective sabering. I find myself playing it once in a while to brush up on basic saber skills. I also liked the sound effects at the end where Maul gives his famous quote about fear.
