London
Author: [Spiral] Reviewer: [Moonraker]
- Aesthetics:
- Aesthetically, this level sets standards for others, which is a rare occasion for a level to have such a quality. It has that certain
feel to it that makes it so real. The author did an astonishing job capturing the gloomy feel of London at midnight. The lighting is
near perfect and complements the scary feel of the level. The textures were of only a few but they were used in such a way that
wasn't repetitive and fit the theme rather nicely. The architecture was very well done and solid. The level really captures the
gloomy dark unsuspecting atmosphere of a medieval town at midnight.
- Gameplay:
- Unfortunately this level has the problem of too much detail and bad framerate. It seems with every great looking level this is the
problem. Pushing the framerate aside for a moment and moving to gameplay not plagued with with it's evil, reveals very solid
deathmatch. If it weren't for the framerate problems, this level would be ideal for deathmatch. It's fairly small and flows very
nicely. Areas are the perfect size and formation for blastin' opponents. It's unfortunate framerate has taken it's toll on London,
another level to be added to the mass grave of victims from this horrible horrible disease.
- Final Comments:
- I'd like to say that a level like this only rolls around every once and a while and I highly suggest downloading it. Of course I
recommend a fairly high powered computer cause this level needs it. I think everyone should at least give this level a try.
