OVERVIEW
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ForceRemap is a texturing tool for the 3DO models used in Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II.
This tool is intended to complement JED and is for texturing purposes only.

What it does:

 - Re-aligns the textures on an existing model
 - Provides convenient "auto-mapping" and scaling features
 - Allows for manual editing of UV coordinates
 - Replaces one texture with another
 - Supports solid color, 8-bit, and 16-bit MAT files
 - Supports windows 24-bit BMP files

What it DOES NOT:

 - Create 3DO models from scratch
 - Alter the geometry of existing models

What it DOES NOT, but may in the future:

 - Support multiple LOD's (levels of detail)
 - Load 3DO files from within GOB containers
 - Support 8-bit BMP files

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HISTORY
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Version 1.1

 - Fixed a bug that would affect the pivot values of K_RHAND. Now ForceRemap will not affect your
   HIERARCHY section whatsoever.

 - Removed the example 3DO files from the zip archive. If you want to see them you can download
   them from the homepage separately.

 - I am also aware of the texture vertex selection bug. After scaling texture vertices it becomes
difficult to select/deselect them. But i have no time to fix that right now, sorry.

Version 1.0

 - First public release

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
KEYBOARD COMMANDS
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
View controls are similar to those in JED.

panning: UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT
rotation: SHIFT + (UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT)
rotate on all axes: NUMPAD *
zoom: NUMPAD +, -

increase panning/rotation/zoom speed: CTRL

mouse look: M
reset view: R

deselect all texture groups: BACKSPACE
toggle control panel: ENTER

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MANUAL REMAPPING
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You can edit texture coordinates on a per-vertex basis.
Make a selection by either dragging a rectangle or clicking on individual vertices.
Once you have made a selection, hold CONTROL and use the mouse to move the selection.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SCALING TIPS
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Select any number of texture coordinates as mentioned above.

 - Scale by -1 to flip the vertices about the currently selected axis.
 - Scale by 0 to "merge" vertices (make them occupy the same space)
 - Scale up beyond the edges of the texture to create a tiling effect.

The latter technique can be put to good use in level design.
i.e., for covering very large objects with a tileable texture.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AUTOMATIC TEXTURE LOADING
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the Preferences menu, you can specify the texture loading priority. This only applies when
opening models with the File -> Open command. This feature was included for flexibility.

For example:

Say your model references a texture called KYHAND.MAT. If you checked "Try BMP first", then the
program will ignore the MAT extension and attempt to load KYHAND.BMP instead.

First it will look for the file in a subfolder called "bmp" under the folder that contains the 3do
file. If that fails, then it will look in the same folder that contains the 3do file.

If the program fails to find the BMP file in either location, and you had also checked "Load MAT
if BMP fails", then it will attempt to load KYHAND.MAT in a similar fashion.
