He and his 200 year old Wookiee co-pilot, Chewbacca had been on many flights before, both for smuggling and for purposes of the New Republic, but unlike all others, this one was personal. A powerful army, known as the Seven Dark Jedi recently took command over the Empire. Jerec, their leader ordered senior staff of the Rebel Alliance to be caputred and placed in Imperial Detention Centres throughout the galaxy. Han's lover, Princess Leia was captured amongst them, when he heard, Han offered straight away to carry out the rescue attempt. "Okay Chewie! Where did Luke say he'd meet us?" Han asked his trusty co-pilot. Chewbacca whined back a reply. "Okay, so if Luke stays at his landing point, he could act as help if I need it later, as for you, I'll need you to stay in the area to guard the Falcon. Chewie didn't seem very pleased being given such a boring duty, but he understood that the Empire had total control over this area of Sulon, and it was quite likely that without duty, the Falcon will fall into the wrong hands. As the ship landed many Imperial troops turned up, "Looks like we got company" sighed Han. Chewbacca's hopes raised, looks like it wasn't going to be such a boring day for him after all. As they got out of the ship, an X-Wing flew over, being chased by two TIE Fighters, "Luke's right on schedule" Han smiled to himself! The Admiral's Command Chamber (http://command.jedinights.com) for being the only site to ever publish and review my levels efficiently and for letting me post a feature of this episode on their site! I recommend that if you have a single player level, you submit it here! The Skinners, who have sadly now departed from JK editing, their skins were so great, some of which are used in this episode! You can still download them from http://skinners.jedinights.com! I would also like to thank my beta testers, Sir Gerry and Matthew Pate thanks guys! =============================================================================================== * Play Information * Episode name : The Search for Leia Level names : The Moon of Sulon, Sulon Caves, The Forbidden Palace, The Inner Caverns, Detention Centre Entrance, Imperial Detention Centre, Return to Sulon, Imperial Base on Hoth JK version required : Jedi Knight Basic Difficulty Settings : Yes! When Han is in his Trooper disguise, during cutscenes a mysterious shoulder pad will appear. One of the first doors on level 6 acts a bit weird, I can usually fix this problem, but this one was a bit awkward. Sometimes on level 1, Luke will chop a trooper's arm off, the arm will come off, but the trooper will continue to fight! Sometimes when the Kell Dragon on level 1 gets killed, the Stormtroopers will say something stupid like "that's one less rebel"! One of my beta testers reported that the game will often crash on part of level 3, I have never experienced this problem myself, but I recommend that you save the game on the part with the large hanging weight near the begining. =============================================================================================== * New Features in this Episode * Aren't new features great? I love to play a level with loads of new features! Anyway, this episode has lots of new features, they are all listed below: New weapon, the BlasTech Pistol ----------------------------- Yes, Han's personal pistol, courtesy of GoZ Studios, the controls are the same as the one in MotS, however if you are unfamiliar with the BlasTech Pistol in MotS, here's the controls: Fire Primary (CTRL) - A single blast, weaker than the Bryar Pistol, but faster! Fire Secondary (Z) - Hold this down to charge the pistol up and release a stronger shot! Please Note: Z and CTRL are the default controls, they may be assigned differently on your machine. Also, to load the BlasTech pistol into the Search for Leia, you must first load LEIAXTRA.GOB please see LEIARUN.TXT for more information! New Enemies --------- ATST Driver: The ATST Driver is seen on Endor in Return of the Jedi. When you deactivate an ATST, instead of further attack from a Commando or an Officer, you have to fight these. Snow Trooper: The Stormtroopers that attack the Rebel Base on Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back. You will find these guys guarding the Imperial Base on Hoth. Boba Fett: Boba Fett has survived what was thought to be his untimely demise with the Sarlac on Tattoine. Boba Fett is feared as the best bounty hunter in the galaxy and seeks revenge on the Rebel who almost killed him. To increase the chances of achieving his revenge, Fett has teamed up with Bossk, another bounty hunter who has often done jobs for the Empire. New Playable Characters --------------------- For 7 out of 8 levels, you control Han Solo, Han features different costume changes throughout the episode. On Level 7, you control Luke, he wears the Jedi gear seen in Return of the Jedi. New Allies -------- This episode features help from familiar faces throughout, don't kill your allies or you will face a penalty. Chewbacca: Han's 200 year old Wookiee co-pilot is a loyal friend and will always help you in battle. He is armed with a Stormtrooper Rifle. You will find Chewie on levels 1 & 6. Luke Skywalker: You encounter Luke and his X-Wing on the first level. Luke is wearing his Rebel pilot gear and is armed only with a lightsaber. Lando Calrissian: Lando, armed only with a Bryar Pistol will help you on level 7. New Ships ------- The Millenium Falcon: Han's trust Corellian transport. It may look old and be in bad condition, but is one of the fastest ships on the galaxy. X-Wing Figher: The X-Wing Fighter is the Rebellion's most commonly used fighter. Luke has his own X-Wing fighter and you'll encounter him with it along the way. TIE Fighter: The dreaded TIE Fighter. An Imperial ship used commonly against the Rebellion. The Slave I: The ship of the infamous bounty hunter, Boba Fett. Other Features ------------ Healing fruit stands: Activating the fruit stands gives you health, the fruit stands can be used an infinite amount of times, but there's not many around so make good use of them. New SNDs: I have programmed it so that when you control Han, certain Imperials won't say "stop that Jedi scum" or "that Jedi is here somewhere. But for Luke, they will. New Architecture: You will encounter a few new pieces of architecture along the way such as a wishing well, jail door and dead trees. New Protocol Droid: A blue protocol droid that I made, it's not that good, but it's worth using! =============================================================================================== * Further Information * The development machine for this episode was a AMD 3OO 3DNOW machine with 48MB EDO RAM, 4MB S3 ViRGE 325 PCI Graphics Card, 4MB Righeous 3D accelerator and an Audio excel sound card. I should think that the minimum spec for this level would be a P100 with 16MB RAM running on resolution, 320 X 240 on a very small screen. However, Level 8 runs slower than any other level, this is due to wide open areas and falling snow which eat up all the memory, so I recommend that you have a 3D Accelerator and a large amount of memory. You can get this level plus any others that I have made from my games web site: http://pages.eidosnet.co.uk/~akpiggott/ or my Jedi Knight web site: http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Meteor/1668/ I have also sent this level to various Jedi Knight sites. You might want to play my other levels (available off my web sites). =============================================================================================== * A Note on Vader's Journey * If you have downloaded my level, Vader's Journey, you may have noticed an extremely weird fault, you're Kyle! YES! This depends on how you run it, when you run Vader's Journey, if you place the .GOB file in Jedi Knight's Episode directory, you'll control Kyle! However if you use patch commander or place the .GOB file in a directory called Vader, then run JK.EXE -PATH VADER you'll control Darth Vader. You will also see the new .BMs and credits! You should also do this with Rebirth of the Empire, when you do it with that, Kyle will be wearing a different suit that I think looks better and you'll get a new Imperial Officer! ================================================================================================ * Jedi Knight Single Player Levels that I Recommend * These levels are all over the top JK sites, so DOWNLOAD THEM NOW: * Siege at Vol Kanst * Mission to Dante Four * Jedi Search 1 * Jedi Search 2 * Warzone Chapter 1: Rebel Storm Rising * Warzone Chapter 2: The Intruder * The Phantom Menace: Final Battle * Mechanics of the Force * Back Home to Sulon * Remnants of the Empire * Remnants of the Empire 2 * Remnants of the Empire 3 * Pride of the Empire * Journey to the Zelaskata Mountains ================================================================================================ * Mysteries of the Sith Single Player Levels that I Recommend * I recommend that you check these out too: * Vader's Secret * Boc's Survival * Leeza Haynes: Dark Past * Dartana Space Port * Jake McHenry: The Clone Menace * Jake McHenry: Escape from Ramses Hed * One Rebel's Sacrifice * One Rebel's Sacrifice IV * One Rebel's Sacrifice 1-9 * Tales from Mos Varii * Harjassk Diplomacy * The Dhinari Book * Battle on the Outer Rim Part 1 * Battle on the Outer Rim Part 2 * Battle on the Outer Rim Part 3 * The Battle Of Velgoth * Battle of Toprawa * Battle of Toprawa II * Vengeance of M-A.X. * Leeza's Destiny: Fatasshii Spaceport * Leeza's Destiny: Imperial Base at Endor * Force Training On Coruscant * Dark Ties - Episode 1 * Streets of Mos Eisley * Nar Solom * The City of Arca Tera ================================================================================================ * Tips * * Don't kill your allies or you'll suffer greatly (unless you saved your game) * Remember, the fruit stands, Han can eat some fruit off these for health by pressing the activate key (usually space) =============================================================================================== * Cool things to try * * All the holograms can be turned off, just look for a nearby console and deactivate it * Remember that wishing well bit from Sam & Max Hit the Road?
